Recipient of the Town of Richmond Hill’s Inaugural Mid-Career/Established Visual Artist Award, Andrea has been making art for over 30 years. She is currently working on BEINGreen, a series of striking interpretations of the forest.
The medium, Reduction Linocut, is a printmaking technique in which a multicoloured print is made with the use of a single block. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual block is destroyed. A reduction linocut can never be reprinted.
The medium is a metaphor. We carve away at our planet and once gone it cannot be recreated.
Andrea will be demonstrating this technique, and displaying this series throughout the summer and fall. Visit her at the Mill Pond Gallery, Mill Pond Splash, Canada Day at Richmond Green and the Richmond Hill Studio Tour.
